On July 28th, Elon Cook Lee portrayed Robbins House Civil Rights activist Ellen Garrison, reading and discussing the letters Garrison wrote during her time in 1860s Maryland and Virginia as a Freedmen’s Bureau teacher. It was during this time that Ellen Garrison was the first to test the country’s 1866 Civil Rights Act.
